Moroccan Siwak (Beldi Miswak)
Moroccan Siwak (Beldi Miswak)
Moroccan siwak, or beldi siwak, is one of the oldest natural materials Moroccan women have used for their beauty care. It is traditionally used for the care of teeth, gums and hair. It is extracted from the bark of the walnut tree and is known for its sharp, bitter taste.
Benefits of Moroccan siwak for the teeth
- Cleans the teeth and helps reduce yellowing and smoking marks.
- Helps whiten the teeth.
- Gives the mouth a feeling of freshness and helps get rid of unwanted breath odor.
How to use for the teeth
Cut a small piece of siwak lengthwise and wash it well until it is moist, then gently rub it over the teeth, gums and tongue. Throw it away immediately after use.
For the hair
Siwak gives the hair a dark brown color. It is traditionally used with henna to dye hair naturally and add shine, and it also helps cleanse the scalp of excess oil.
- First method: boil the siwak for 10 minutes over low heat and leave it until lukewarm. Then rinse the hair with it after shampooing, massaging the scalp for 5 minutes, and wash the hair with warm water.
- Second method: dry the siwak and grind it until fine, then mix it with two tablespoons of olive oil or castor oil and leave it for one day in an airtight bottle. Then apply it to the scalp with massage.
Storage: wrap the siwak in a piece of cotton and place it in a closed container to keep it for a long time.
